The Goth Challenge Day 9! What Kind of Music do You Dislike?

I have to say that I enjoy a variety of music, but I dislike most hip hop, reggae and jazz as well as most rap. None of these musical styles really appeal to me, pop music is also quite annoying to me. Actually, looking at this I guess I am much pickier about my music then I though. I guess having such a great number of rock, metal and alternative and punk bands makes listening to music I am not as fond of kind of unnecessary!

Goth Challenge Day 8, What are your best and wort experience with non goths?

Well to be honest my worst experiences with non goths have mostly been with family or the family of friends. Me ex boyfriend's family hated me and said i was trashy looking because I wore a simple black collar and lace tights. My own family also has a problem with the way I look, often asking if I could please "dress normally" if I want to go to out to dinner with them, or mentioning how nice I could look if I only wore color and stopped dying my hair.I have also had complaints about my tattoos and piercings.

My best moments are probably when people come up to me at random and start gushing about my hair and clothes. I have had little old ladies, business men and fabulous gays all come up to me at random locations to compliment me and ask about my hair or tattoos. I also love when little kids get excited to see a person with pink or blue hair!

Goth Challenge Day 7 Ten Fave Goth Bands

I have to say that if I have one failing as a goth, it is in not listening to much of the music. I don't know what it is, but much of the sound simply doesn't appeal to me. Anywhere here is a brief preview of some of the "darker" music I do enjoy, maybe you like some of these artists too?

Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Star Crossed

Chiodos, Bulls Make Money, Bears Make Money, Pigs Get Slaughtered

Atreyu, Bleeding Mascara

Amon Amarth, The Pursuit of Vikings

Vitamin String Quartet, Heart Shaped Box

Goth Challenge Day 6

So these aren't my fave song lyrics ever, but lately I can't get the remake of Depeche Mode's "Enjoy The Silence" out of my head. The version I fell hard for is done by Anberlin and it popped up at random on my Pandora station I dedicated the the band HIM a few months back. Please enjoy my awful handwriting!!
I pretty much only hand write in cursive, anyone else still do that??

here's the version I was talking about, hope you enjoy it!

Goth Challenge Day 5- Is there a local Goth band or group in your area?

I don't know! I'm a terrible person, because I don't listen to "true" goth music almost at all! Also, i have only been to a few local shows, and most of them were hardcore, metal, deathmetal. They were great shows and I am blessed to have met the members of most of them and even be friendly with a few. Heres a list of Long Island bands I have seen.

After Chidori
Palmyra
Forrest Gump Mile High Marathon (these guys are my fave by far, they play songs based off the movie Forrest Gump and use sound bytes from the movie to great effect. Also, they sell shirts that say "Get Down, Shut Up" on the back, I will be posting some outfits with it soon hopefully!)
Pyscho Enhancer
Within The Ruins

Goth Challenge Day 4- Name a stereotype or cliche you can relate to.

I guess I fit into a few gothy stereotypes.
I have crazy hair, lots of piercings and a fair amount of tattoos.
I love gory horror films and I read a lot (a lot of fantasy and science fiction and horror mostly).
I like black, Tim Burton films and stompy boots are a go fashion staple for me.
I consider myself a creative person, I like art and writing creatively.
Bats and rats and skeletons are all things I find adorable.
I like over the top hair and make up styles.
I smoke clove cigarettes.

Day 3 – When did you come out the Goth closet?

I didn't really ever come out of the closet! Lol, it may seem boring to tell but for me goth just gradually came into my life, from rock/punk influenced styles into the stompy boots and black lace of now. I was always pretty upfront about my oddness, so i don't think there was ever a moment where people were truly shocked or anything, black and red and grey were always some of my fave colors, and I made my desire for ink and facial hardware known from a very young age. I guess I just kinda eased into it over time, lol.

Goth Challenge Day 2, Share You as a Babybat!

Day 2 – Share photos and experiences from your Baby Bat days.

I have to say I didn't have much of a baby-bat phase! I kind of went punk then eased into goth along the way. But I did play around with black eyeliner and cutting my hair a bunch of different punk ways, so here have a look, these are all me from high-school, including some awesome shots of me with my date at prom. His hair was muuuuuch longer then mine lol!

Bangs of dooooom, I was so emo looking...

we matched! I wore black heels and he had green checked tie and belt, it was cute

MAC did my make, kinda plain

Castro cap is made of win

I miss this haircut sometimes...

The Goth Challenge! Day One, How Did you Come Across The Subculture?

So apparently all the cool kids do blogging challenges/memes, and I decided this one was worth jumping on the bandwagon for! It's the Goth Challenge, which you you can find HERE. This list is pretty long, but I think it will be a nice way to get into blogging on a regular basis again.

Day one is about how you first discovered goth. Truth is, I can barely remember! I liked horror movies and rock/punk music as a young child. I remember seeing a picture of Travis Barker in his undies (on the inside of my first CD case, Enema of the State) and being completely enthralled by his mohawk and tattoos. By 4th grade I was reading Anne Rice and was already a huge Harry Potter fan. By 6th grade I was wearing my hair slicked back with blue hair gel, and was in love with crazy converse. i guess I was more punk? As I went through school I started dyeing my hair and got a nose ring and then got more and more into goth, turning into the blue mohawked, tatted and pierced lil spooky kid I am now!
