My Little Pony and After School Clubs

These are why I haven't been blogging. I know, not very good excuses, but it's the truth. I have classes monday through Thursday, and then I have Freethinkers club (The atheist club I go to), events in the science fiction forum (we watched The Last Unicorn with the LGBTA) and watching insane amounts of My Little Pony. I don't know why, but lately I have been grooving on this show a lot. Have any of you watched it? I know it's a kids show but it's actually really fun.

Autumn Goth- Mixing Tights and Shorts for Ghoulish good Looks

Dead Fall

One of my favorite ways to dress when it gets colder is to simply add tights and jacket to my regular summer outfits. This works especially well with tights. There are so many colors and patterns you can find to help make an outfit something special. Shorts with tights are also surprisingly comfy! Here are some polyvore sets I made to help inspire you!

Ice Core

Do you ever wear leggings or tights under shorts?

Manga Review- Petshop of Horrors

The mysterious Count D is the proprietor of a pet shop in Los Angeles' Chinatown. Each of D's rare pets, which all have strangely humanoid appearances, comes with a contract which can have severe consequences if broken. his shop becomes the subject of an ongoing investigation carried out by Detective Leon Orcot, who usually spends his free time lurking around the shop drinking tea and eating sweets with d and his strange menagerie. The chapters are usually stand alone stories, each dealing with a new pet and it's owners, and the tragedies that befall them when they fail to heed D's careful warnings.
This is an excellent manga for manga fans in general, and especially great for fans of the dark and macabre. The art is lush and detailed, the character design unique and eye catching and the stories range from horrifying to touching in turns. the sequel isn't as good as the original but it's also worth a look. you can read them all online here-

Goth Challenge Day 13, What Was Your First Band Shirt?

I love these guys!
I think my first band shirt was a Ramones tee I got at some random mall shop, not even a Hot Topic. I had it forever, and loved it to bits. I'm kind of glad my first band shirt wasn't something super trendy and awful. Although I do admit to later on buying a few trendy ones simply because I loved the graphic they used. Screamo/scene/emo bands tend to use some of the best art on their shirts lately, and I find myself wanting a huge collection of them to cut up and resew in interesting ways.

Goth Challenge Day 12, What's Your Goth Inspiration?

I don't know if I really have a Goth inspiration. I love the Addams Family, but I don't try to emulate Morticia or Wednesday. I like looking at pictures of other Goths and admiring their clothes, but I have no urge to try and copy them.To me, looking at other goths, or reading books that fit the Gothic ideal, are all fun, but I've never tried to just focus on one character or person to try to copy in real life. To me, other goths are more like motivation then inspiration. I see them, and I get that buzzing in my head, wondering what I could do to look that good. I could spend hours on Tumblr looking at lovely outfits and clothes and getting ideas. I love looking at three different outfits online and trying to figure out what pieces mix well, or what makeup makes a certain look really pop.

Goth Challenge Day 11 Is Goth a Lifestyle for You?

Goth is definitely a lifestyle for me. I enjoy not only the clothes, but the culture. I enjoy reading gothic blogs, looking at Goth themed Tumblrs online, reading horror manga and fantasy novels and watching Tim Burton Films. In many ways I could say that it's really more of a case of my own lifestyle happening to fit well with Goth more then anything. I don't go out of my way to try and act Goth or to take an interest in things that strictly Goth, I just happen to share a lot of interests with the rest of the community. Even when I considered myself more a punk then anything, it was simply because that label just happened to fit my own interests rather well.

Goth Challenge Day 10, What do You Hate and Love About the Subculture?

I love a lot of things about the Gothic culture. I love the fashion, the big black boots and crazy hair and over the top make-up. I love the bonding over fantasy novels and horror movies. Bats and vampires and zombies and screeching guitars and black eyeliner all make me squeal. It's beautiful and different and full of all the things that make me happy!

What do I hate about it? How hard it can be to find good clothes and shoes at great prices and in a variety of sizes. How much maintenance the look can take, and how unaccepted it still is in most places. I also hate how uncomfortable some of the clothes are.
