How I first found out about Goth fashion

I always liked goth stuff as a kid. The Tripp pants and fishnet and crazy hair all seemed amazingly cool to me, even back then. When I was in jr high I started to associate myself with the punk label, loving all things strange and over the top and alternative. I had a friend who let me borrow her Tripp pants and we hung out and read Jhonen Vasquez comics at her house. The idea of embracing everything gross and dark and creepy and seeing how fun it really was just kind of stuck with me after that.
