Movie Review- Snowpiercer
Last night I saw an amazing movie and felt like I really had to share it now while it is still out in theaters. Snow Piercer is a Korean American film based on a French graphic novel Le Transperceneige.
There is a lot of mediocre stuff that comes out in the Summer, big action movies with a ton of explosions and big names. But this movie defies all expectations. It's a work of art.
Snowpiercer is a post apocalyptic science fiction story. In an effort to combat global warming, chemicals are released into the atmosphere to try and lower the temperature. It works, but too well, and the world begins to freeze. Life dies out all over and the globe is covered in snow and ice until the last members of humanity are the passengers on a huge train that travels the globe in a never ending cycle.
The movie dark, no doubt about it. But it is also a great piece of sci fi. It has commentary on class and morality. It also shows that Chris Evans has a lot of range, more than most people would imagine. John Hurt and Tilda Swinton also give a great performance in the film.
So instead of giving money to Micheal Bay or maybe in addition to it) go treat yourself to this lovely film. Bonus, all the snow scenes are nice in the Summer.
