Movie Time!- Les Miserables
The day after Christmas my boyfriend and I took advantage of his having off from work and went to see Les Miserables. I had seen the old, non musical version of the film and seen the play. He was unfamiliar with the story but still excited to see what all the hype was about.
First of all, the music. It was amazing. Overall the actors sound good, if not perfect, and the songs were all very catchy. The movie also looks wonderful. The sweeping scenes of France were great and the costumes were interesting to look at. I heard some people complaining about all the close ups of actors, but it didn't really bother me much. Sacha Baren Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter were great as Thernadier and his wife, providing some much needed laughs in a rather dark and dramatic film.
The film was a great watch, even though it's rather long. It's a really emotional film, I had to fight back some tears at points. The film does a good job of making you feel attached to the characters. My boyfriend liked it as well and has been listening to songs from the movie and humming the tunes non stop. I would say this is a must see.
