Pain - Masochism and Tyler Durden

Pain is a funny thing. Most people will spend their entire life trying to avoid and minimize pain and discomfort. It's a spectrum of physical sensation that has a Hell of a bad rap. For most people, voluntary pain is simply a price to paid for something else, a shot or a tattoo or a piercing. People grimace or flinch or cry and then rush to try and find a way to make the pain stop. Bruises and scrapes and scars make people uncomfortable, it makes them want to look away. Every time I get a cut or burn or bruise, there is someone going on "How did that happen?" "Doesn't it hurt??" "Oh my goodness, how awful!".
I am not most people. I like pain on a few different levels, and I appreciate it as being equal to pleasure or anything else I might experience. I also value it as a part of my personal philosophy. because not all pain is the same, and different types of pain are valuable in different ways.
You see, the human body is not made of glass. Small cuts and bruises and scrapes WILL NOT KILL YOU. You might not like it, but this is a valuable thing to know. Your body is an amazing machine, it is capable of amazing strength and able to endure extreme temperatures, to function with little food or water for days on end, to withstand a variety of diseases and traumas. People are stronger then they give themselves credit. Tyler Durden is my hero in part because of his desire to test his own physical limits, and his desire to see others do the same. When you are broken or bleeding or doubled over in pain, you are alive and in the moment in the purest sense of the word.
Pain is also important as a counterpoint to pleasure. For some people pain feels good, for others, it's a nice little jolt to remind of how good the good things feel in contrast to something a little nastier. What may be a horrible feeling for some is enjoyable to others.
The point is, there are a range of physical experiences your body is capable of. Some people enjoy certain sensations more then others, and you should not fear or judge those who choose to do that.

Blue/Violet Hair

I got super bored with my hair last week. The black dye was fading and my sides were growing in and the whole thing looked like a mess. So I got some bleach and ultra violet dye and cut it with some left over dark red/pruple I had left over and did this! I also gave myself a nice leave in treatment and trimmed the ends since the bleach was hell on my hair.

Bonus shot of me being silly. I like chewing on my tongue ring.

My Make Up - Geometric Brown

So I decided to go ahead and finally post one of my makeup routines. This one is pretty quick and basic, and fun for school days. I usually find brown shadows boring so this is my answer to that, fun shapes!

First step is foundation, I use covergirl clean. Super cheap and nice coverage.

Next is covergirl clean face powder in a matching shade. Also, stare in awe at my mushy face lol.

I am a nerd and keep m brushes in an old Pokemon pencil case.

NYC cheek glow. I use this in the cooler months because I get pale in a bad way.

Hard Candy lip plumping gloss. I'm not sure if this makes my lips bigger but I like the color.

Now things get weird.  use some plain old scotch tape to mark where I want my eyeshadow to have a clean line.

I pick out my eyeshadow, and then color my whole top lid, extending it out over the tape.

Peel off the tape and we're left with a nice clean line.

Then I draw on my eyebrows. I use a plain black eyebrow pencil most days and just touch up my lines with a wet q-tip after.

Then I layer on a few coats of lash blast mascara. This stuff is really nice, no flake and very little clumping for the price.

I usually put a thin coat of nude lipstick on as well. I like Maybelline lipsticks, they come in a million colors and are pretty cheap.

And then we're done! What do you think should I post more make up walk throughs?

Rock Gyaru- Another Glamorous Goth?

Lately I have been spending more and more time looking at Japanese fashion blogs and live-journal communities. I can't seem to help myself. I just love the variety you find in Japanese fashion, the amazing hair and make up and nails. I've also been noticing how different and varied the Goth style is over there. J Goth is very different from Western Goth, and just as we have more then one alt style, so do they.
The one that got my attention the most recently? Rokku Gyaru, sometimes called Goth Gal. Gyaru is a very feminine style that is popular in Japan, and gaining more of a foothold in the West. It usually incorporates big hair, elaborate make up and nails, and heels/platform shoes/boots. Sounds great for a goth who craves some glamour right?
Rokku style is also great for those goths that still like more trendy, mainstream stores and clothes. A little bit of dark floral, or a leather jacket can go a long way in this look. If you're trying it out and have a largely goth wardrobe, try wearing boots with heels rather than platforms, adding floral accents and using a few trendy accessories.
Popular motifs include skulls, floral, studs, stripes and bright colors/neon accented with black or leather. Frills, lace and studs are good accents, and great easy ways to turn a typical girly outfit into something a little more "rokku".
Hair and make up run towards smokey eyes, fake lashes and curls. Floral hair clips, headbands and glitter are all great addons. Colored hair streaks and bedhead styles locks are also common, although in this style natural colored hair is actually the nor rather then the exception.

This is the perfect look for girly girls who want more of an edge to their look, Gals who want to show their love of Goth, Rock or Punk, and teens whose parents might be hesitant to buy them the gothy wardrobe of their dreams.
