Winter Break

Winter break is well under way now. Christmas is done and New Years is almost here. So far things have been perfect!
I'm not planning on doing a serious haul shot of all my gifts but this was special. Mike filled a briefcase with Welcome to Nightvale stuff and flies! Just like on the show! I was super excited opening it up. Oddly enough, I got him the same patch and mug because we apparently share a brain sometimes.

I also got the smeech into the festive mood by dressing him up like one of Santas helpers. He didn't mind it because I also got him a stocking full of treats.

Jb is in jersey for the break but we met up in Manhattan for a date day of museums and tea shops and window shopping. It was amazing, and I get to see him again for New Years.

Right before Christmas, I buzzed a ton of hair off. I now have a Chelsea! It's great, an having people rub the buzzed part is awesome.
Tomorrow it's back the city for a Gogol Bordello show! Got any good New Yers plans?

On Being Poly

So those of you who follow me on instagram or Tumblr may already know this, but the fact is, I am poly. I have two boyfriends, Mike who I have been with for three years and Jb who I have been seeing for a few months.
Me and Jb at a school party

Mike and I at the beach
Now, before anyone gets confused or worried, they both know about each other, and both of them are cool with me seeing the other. Right now, I am dating both separately but we spend a lot of time together, hanging out and having fun (Mike is the only one with a full time job so he takes me and JB on dates).
Being poly is hard at times. When I go out with both of my boyfriends I get some strange looks and sometimes I hear people whispering. But really, it's worth it to have time with both of them. Sitting around with one on each side, chatting and cuddling, it's just a really nice feeling.
Night out with both boys
This last week I had a lot of good quality time with both of them but now winter break is here and I won't be seeing JB until New Years Eve which is gonna be hard. In the meantime, I am going to enjoy some fun times with Mike and just enjoy my vacation.

3 things I wish I was told when I was a Baby Bat

1- Statement pieces are key
One over the top item can make a look. A pair of faux leather shorts can change a simple summer or spring look into something dark and sexy. My crazy faux fur coat can make me feel crazy and glamorous all at once. A dresser of plain tanks, tees and bottoms really needs a pop of something.

pentagram earrings are always a great addition to an outfit

My hellraisers are great, comfy and they certainly make a statement

2- Texture is important
Faux fur, faux leather, sequins, spikes and studs. I LOVE texture.  don’t do much color, so texture is what I go for to add interest. I am also someone who enjoys touching clothes. Velvet and fur and synthetic silk just feel good to put on.

I added a ton of spikes to this denim jacket for a personalized touch

Faux fur is pretty, warm, and humane!

3- Go for a total package
Personally, I don’t like an ott look with plain hair or minimal makeup. I think alt styles work best when you push it on all fronts. For me, the black dye job, piercings and tat are often what keep from feeling very plain on days I can’t or don’t wear a really crazy outfit.

A simple smokey eye goes a long way
I like black and silver jewelry because it always matches

So I did something very typically "me" recently. I cut a bunch of my hair off! I know it's cold and more hair seems like it would be better but it just suits me a lot more and also makes my life easier in terms of hats.
I need a better picture of the back next time I buzz it. You can see my natural hair color now because my roots were coming in.

When I went in for the cut the woman in the salon was really scared and made the senior stylist do it instead. She kept saying she was scared of taking so much length off and that she had never buzzed a woman before. but it ended up fine and it was only 20 with tip.

Winter is Moving In

It is cold here! NY has been super chilly lately which means warmer clothes and staying inside as much as possible. I've been coping with the chill by wearing faux fur everything and layering everything I own.

I have been trying to dress up a bit more now that the holiday season is here, so I got these spiked loafers from UNIF. The spikes keep them goth enough but the basic style is still pretty classic and versatile.

Mike and I also got a PS4 to keep us occupied indoors. This shot is of one of the mini games that works with the camera, it fills the room with cute lil robots!

GKE 2013

Hello readers! I hope you are enjoying the crispy cool Fall weather and all the fun holidays and events that come at this time of year. Halloween, Hallowmas, Pumpkin Picking, Thanksgiving, NaNoWriMo...and GKE!
GKE stands for Geeky Kink Event. It's a convention held in New jersey and New England (I went to the one in Jersey), where adults who love kink and all things nerdy can gather together for a weekend of science, nerdiness and debauchery.
I actually went to GKE last year and had a fairly good time. I went with my primary partner Mike, and we stayed in a hotel room with friends. Which was fun, but slightly awkward at moments. We had made plans to stay with a couple we sort of knew, but between planning and the con they broke up and we ended up with the girl and her new bf we had never met before. There was also a matter of a lack of privacy since we had a small room with two beds.
The con itself takes place inside a hotel. they turn the big conference rooms into class rooms and the big party space is transformed into a fantastic dungeon with suspension setups, St Andrews crosses, cages and even a medical play area. last year, despite buying a fair amount of expensive new toys, we never made it to the play space and barely used them in the room we had.
This year was a bit different. We knew no one there (friends all backed out for various reasons) so we had all the time in the world to do anything we wanted. Which meant sitting in on some advanced classes (violet wand play, fire play) and then getting to try it out. My favorite thing was the fireplay we tried out. Here is the set up. I woke up that morning and drank a good amount of water and shaved my legs from toe to thigh very thoroughly. When we got to the dungeon I grabbed a massage table and laid out some medical pads. Then we plugged in the solid state wand we have and set up our fire play equipment.
The fire play stuff we have is pretty simple. the torches we use are a small piece of wood wrapped with gauze and then set with a sleeve of finger gauze (all easily and cheaply bought). The ignition fluid is simple rubbing alcohol. For normal fire play 70% is used, but for this technique we used 91%, which ignites easier, but also burns much hotter. The alcohol is put in a small pyrex dish so the torches can soak. Two is all you need and they can be reused.
Next you need a towel, a fire extinguisher (just in case) and some water (you might get a bit warm and thirsty). I laid out on the table and Mike used the torches to spread a bit of alcohol on me, careful not to let it puddle or drip all over. Then, using the violet wand and a metal tip, he ignited it by holding the wand a few centimeters from my skin and allowing it to arc and spark. The flames are very hot and spread pretty fast so Mike had to follow right after with his hands, smothering the flame and spreading the warm feeling around.
it's a very nice feeling to me. the spark is a sharp, sticking kind of shock and the flames and warm and soothing but also keep you a bit on edge because, you know, you're on fire. The alcohol is rather cold too, so add in that sensation and you have a good idea of what it was like.
I also got to wear some cute outfits! Most were a bit nsfw, but my Starfleet uniform was so much fun to wear! I have the red engineering jumpsuit, and I was a petty officer first class while Mike took the place as Riker.

Hallowmas 2013 - Punk, Dancing and Dead Bodies

This year I spent my Halloween in a very special way. Hallowmas!

Hallowmas is a special halloween show put on by The World Inferno Friendship Society. The show takes place at The Warsaw in Brooklyn. The venue is a cool old place where they sell perogies along with the normal beer and liquor.
the show started normally enough, a great warm up band The Shivering brigade started the show, the whole band dressed as Batman characters. They were a great warm up act, lively and fun, and during their set glitter cannons and streamers were released along with balloons and confetti, covering the crowd. They were such a great time that after the set Mike and I went to get one of the special purple 45s they were selling. Along the way we noticed something a little weird. A coffin. Now, seeing it was Halloween it didn't seem too weird. But on closer inspection we realized there was a body in it. A real body.
Apparently a friend of Jack Terricloth, the lead singer, had a friend die a few days before the show, and instead of canceling, turned the concert into a funeral for her. the show was lovely. they sang, we danced, and at the end they had pall bearers (in costume) take the coffin up on stage. The whole thing was beautiful and sort of sad and intense. It was unlike anything else.
Overall it was a fun, but very strange, night.

Have You Seen The Bats and Cats Collection?

Forever 21 is a fun store, not a great store. they sell alot of medium to low quality fast fashion pieces and trendy items. I sometimes buy a shirt or skirt here or there just to add more sparkle to my basics. So I was extra excited when I saw them reveal this amazing, alt fashion friendly collection. The theme  is bats and cats, and feature Batman logos, Catwoman, bat prints, studs and faux leather.
Here are some of the items I'm going to be getting-
I needed a pair of sweats for casual and comfy days and these were great, the perfect amount of comfort and spook!

This sweater is so cute! grey with a white bat print, it would be perfect with a skirt (as shown) or with plain skinny jeans and sneakers, or shorts and tights for a more pastel goth look.

BAT PAJAMAS! Who doesn't want comfy cute bat pajamas? I am dying to get my hands on these. It's getting cold out and these seem warm and fun, the perfect thing to wear while watching scary movies and drinking pumpkin coffee.

Are you planning on getting anything from the collection?

Alt Is Where You Look For It - Shoes at Charlotte Russe

I love alt fashion, I really do. I also love alt brands like Iron Fist and Tripp and Actual Pain. but they can be pricey, hard to find and often require online shopping which means dealing with shipping costs and needs a credit card. Some people simply can't afford it or don't want to risk online shopping form a brand they don't know. Luckily, alt fashion can be found almost anywhere. Most malls will have stores that are chock full of great alt find, all you have to do is look a bit. Even better, I have taken on this burden and done the searching for you! Charlotte Russe is not a store I shop in a lot, but they have a great shoe selection with plenty of studs and vegan leather and awesome hardware. So here is a bit of a sampling, showing they have shoes for any kind of alternative girl, from punk to fashion goth to pastel goth.
