Goth Challenge My 5 Keywords

5 keywords that describe my personal Goth style
- Layered, I wear all the layers all the time. I almost always have a tank top on under my other clothes.
- Monochromatic. I am not a goth who wears color.
- Nu. I consider myself more nu goth than anything else. I tend towards the hipster end of the spectrum but in all black.
- Trendy. I like adding regular mainstream fashion trend into my outfits, but in black.
- Flattering? I know a lot of alt style purposely add lots of odd layers that don’t show off the body much, but I like belts and jackets that cinch me in in certain places.

I was always a fan of cheesy online quizzes. This one tests what kind of goth you are. my result  Perky goth. Not sure how well that really fits, but hey, could be worse right?

You are a perky goff! You like cute things, glitter, and scary carnivals. You think that the contrast between playful innocence and dark corruption is tantalizing, which is why you like to dress up like an evil dollie. Click on my name to take my other tests if you liked this one.

Beauty Review- Freeman Facial Hydration Mask Goji Berry

I picked up some face masks the other day and wanted to post a review. The first is the Freeman Facial Hydration mask with Goji Berry. First impression? Briiiiight package. I got a tiny single serving packet so that I can just try it out. My skin has been a little dry lately with being sick and dealing with the winter weather. The goo inside was a whitish clear and had a vaguely acidic smell like fruity soap. It tingled a bit, almost stung actually, upon applying. Then it dried and my skin felt kind of tight. After washing it off my skin felt really nice and not dry or flakey in any spots anymore which s great. Highly recommend for intense dry skin.

Goth Challenge- How strangers react to my clothes, and how I react to their reactions

I get a wide range of reactions to how I look. Some pleasant, some not. My clothes themselves are likely not to the main issue. I live in NY, and not so far from the city that people have never heard of goth or punk. Instead, the reaction is more about my hair (or lack thereof at times) and piercings.
doodle by me
I have a lot of metal in my face and I like shaving my head from time to time. That means I get a lot of dirty looks and odd stares and a lot of random people coming up to me and gushing about how great it is.
Generally I just ignore people, if someone says something nice I thank them, but mostly I just kinda live in my own head and ignore people.

So I screwed up my wrist something special. I was in the lab and was working with a chunk of limestone and it started to slip, so when I went to grab it I pulled my wrist out of place. I had to go to the ER and get xrays and a splint.

J fashion Inspo

Lately I find myself more and more inspired to try and push my fashion and style forward. One thing that has been helping me with these sartorial ideas is Japanese street fashion. J-goth is worlds away from western goth, free of most of the over done victorian references and mall goth cliches  Instead layering, interesting proportions and unique looks carry the day. People seem to compete for the title of most original outfit, and the results are to die for. What do you think? Is J-fashion for you?

Happy Valentines Day! I celebrated yesterday since my boyfriend is working. He got me a ton of chocolate form a local store (dark choc bark with nuts, yum!!), this bunny and a Bosun's whistle. The whistle is a part of a joke where I am insisting my proper title is The Admiral. So he got me the whistle so I could use it in proper naval fashion. The cat is a Mutie, a weird animal from Homestuck. My friend made it for me in exchange for making her a graphic for her shop. Isn't it cute? he's got four eyes! The drink is a green tea frappe that a friend got me just because she's a lovely person. I LOVE green tea frappes. She had them write empress on it because she say's she is my loyal subject/minion.

Me and Tea!

I love tea. I really, really love tea. I am also a big fan of visiting tea shops. They smell lovely and it's always kind of calm and neat inside. There is a store not too far from me, You, Me and Tea, that offers a lot of nice loose tea blends. All of my loose tea right now is from there. I tried Teavana and didn't like it. It was crowded and the staff were a bit pushy. They also over sweetened the samples and didn't have samples set aside to smell. This bothered me a lot, so I decided to just buy from the local shop instead. Plus, supporting small business is cool.

My box teas were all gifts

House Rabbits

So I recently posted a picture of my rabbit outside. But that isn't his normal home at all. I actually keep my rabbit inside. He is a house rabbit!
I feel really strongly that rabbits are better as indoor pets, and not kept outside in a tiny hutch. outside, rabbits can easily become sick from changing weather and damp. Pet rabbits are not exactly the same as their wild cousins, they are not as able to handle the elements. Also, wild rabbits build warrens and keep themselves warm in natural ways that a rabbit can't when they are in an enclosure.
Mochi's house. Made out of storage cubes and zip ties

There is also the matter of other animals when outside. Rabbits spook easily, and can actually have heart attacks form fright. So whenever a raccoon or neighborhood cat or stray dog comes up to the enclosure and tries to get in, the rabbit risks death even if the animal never reaches them.
Affectionate indoor bun
Rabbits also benefit form normal socialization, same as any cat or dog. Rabbits can actually be very affectionate and smart. They may play with toys and will come and sit on the laps of their owners to beg for treats and pets. A rabbit that isn't kept inside may be skittish and even try to bite someone who may try to pick them up.
If you are thinking of getting a rabbit or already own one, please keep it inside. It is fairly easy to build homes for them indoors, and they can even be litter trained to reduce the mess they cause.
If you have your bun indoors remember to bunnyproof a bit so that there aren't loose wires or other things for them to chew on. Getting them toys to chew on will help with this.

Vlog- My Tumblr Drama

TV Review - Battlestar Galactica (remake)

This is my favorite science fiction show. Really. It is that good. I didn't watch this show when it was airing in real time but it is on Netflix instant streaming. I powered through four seasons of 42min episodes and two miniseries/movies in a matter of weeks. It was an intense ride.
This show is very heavy on drama. There are a lot of sad, intense, painful moments, and yet I couldn't stop watching. The show builds momentum pretty quickly and never really slows down.
The series is about the survival of the human races, who's planets have been destroyed by a robotic race they had created long ago and actually thought dead until they suddenly attacked. The last humans are forced to flee into space with only one military vessel, a 50 year old ship with a small crew and only limited resources. As they fight for survival, the enemy is never far behind, and there is danger everywhere.

The big draw of BSG are the sudden twists and big reveals. Who is secretly an enemy? Who will die next? Will the human race survive? Also, Edward James Olmos is a bad-ass in this show.
